Botwright has had an incredible run of success in Manchester |
Vicky Botwright reached the World Open Squash Championships final after fellow Englishwoman Jenny Duncalf retired from their semi-final in Manchester. Home favourite Botwright, who is due to retire, was 11-6 11-3 ahead before fifth seed Duncalf, from Harrogate, had to give up because of a thigh injury. Botwright will now face Nicol David after the Malaysian beat Ireland's Madeline Perry 11-6 11-8 11-6. "I don't know what to say - it's unbelievable," said the Mancunian. "I thought I could beat her - but I didn't want to do it like that. "But even if I win the title, I will still be back at work on Monday morning." Egyptians Ramy Ashour and Karim Darwish will contest the men's final. Ashour beat compatriot and defending champion Amr Shabana 11-6 7-11 7-11 11-9 11-7 while Darwish saw off Australian David Palmer.
