Botwright makes World Open final

Botwright has had an incredible run of success in Manchester

Vicky Botwright reached the World Open Squash Championships final after fellow Englishwoman Jenny Duncalf retired from their semi-final in Manchester.

Home favourite Botwright, who is due to retire, was 11-6 11-3 ahead before fifth seed Duncalf, from Harrogate, had to give up because of a thigh injury.

Botwright will now face Nicol David after the Malaysian beat Ireland's Madeline Perry 11-6 11-8 11-6.

"I don't know what to say - it's unbelievable," said the Mancunian.

"I thought I could beat her - but I didn't want to do it like that.

"But even if I win the title, I will still be back at work on Monday morning."

Egyptians Ramy Ashour and Karim Darwish will contest the men's final.

Ashour beat compatriot and defending champion Amr Shabana 11-6 7-11 7-11 11-9 11-7 while Darwish saw off Australian David Palmer.
