Aussie ace faces uphill Ashes battle
Bobby George is the expert summariser for the BBC's coverage of the Embassy World Championship
Bobby George - may the darts be with you
In his latest column, Bobby George looks ahead to the Embassy World Darts Championship final and the prospect of Australian outsider Tony David taking on favourite Mervyn King.

Well, the scene's set for another classic - lovely jubbly.

But I have to talk about Saturday's semi-final matches first.

Poor old Colin Monk never got going. Of course, it doesn't help when you miss the double tops.

Colin Monk
The early start affected Colin
Basically, Mervyn King was bullying him.

I think the early start may have affected Colin. I know a lot of the guys don't like playing during the day.

I told Colin after his match that playing early was like having a vindaloo for your breakfast - it's just not natural.

But Merv's worked hard, not only during that match, but for the entire tournament.

The duel against Ray Barneveld showed that he is a dangerous player. He could have actually made the result more convincing.

It will be interesting how he fares against Tony David in the final.

The thing with Tony is that he doesn't wander. If you look closely at his arm, it looks like it's stuck in between rails. It's very steady.

I have to say that although I really fancy King to win this, it would be nice if an Aussie won
Unlike last year, when I tipped John "Boy" Walton to win the Championship, I can't say that I did the same with David.

Because he's from overseas, I don't really know him and what his form's been like recently.

I have to say that although I really fancy King to win this, it would be nice if an Aussie won because another country would have a world champion.

It wouldn't really set the sport alight if King won it - we've had enough champions on these shores.

Anyway, better get ready for the big one. Everybody's been saying it's a battle of the Ashes - well, I suppose it is because it's an Embassy final.

God bless.
