Taylor won the longest Crucible frame against Davis
BBC Sport's pundits have been answering questions sent in by you, the public, throughout the 2002 World Championship.

Please keep them coming in by e-mail to [email protected]and we'll try to answer as many as we can.

There are 10 questions that are asked more frequently than others and BBC Sport's Phil Yates, regarded as the oracle of the sport, provides definitive answers to them below.

  • How do you get a 155 break?

This happens when a player makes a foul shot before a ball is potted, leaving a free ball.

His opponent pots a free ball of his choice with a black and follows this with a further 15 reds and 15 blacks and all the colours to give him a total of 155.

    It's never happened yet.

  • Explain the foul and miss rule

This occurs when a player lays on a snooker and his opponent plays a shot that the referee deems unworthy of a professional in attempting an escape.

This is when a player does not make his best attempt at getting out of the snooker because he does not want to leave his opponent an easy shot.

  • How do you get a kick?

This is an unnatural contact which causes an unnatural reaction between the cue ball and the object ball.

It can affect the cue ball by taking the pace out of it or it can alter the object ball's direction.

We don't quite know what it's caused by. Static electricity has been blamed as has air conditioning at venues.

  • When was the first televised 147?

That was completed by Steve Davis against John Spencer in the 1982 Lada Classic.

  • What has been the longest frame played at The Crucible?

That was the epic final frame of the 1985 World Championship final between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor which lasted 69 minutes.

Taylor won on the final black.

  • Who won the first ever World Championship?

Joe Davis at the expense of Tom Newman.

The final was held in Camkins Billiard Hall in Birmingham in 1927. Davis received a princely sum of six pounds and 10 shillings.

  • Who was the youngest champion?

It was Stephen Hendry, who won the first of his seven titles in 1990. He replaced Alex Higgins as the youngest champion.

  • How much money does somebody get for qualifying?

It all depends on the year. If you qualified for the Crucible in 2002 then you are guaranteed a cheque of 14,500.

This amount will continue to rise as the prize pot increases.

  • Who is the biggest outsider to have won the World Championship?

Joe Johnson was 150-1 with the bookmakers at the start of the 1986 tournament.
