Mark Allen impressively beats Graeme Dott in China Open

Mark Allen will face Stephen Maguire on Thursday

Mark Allen qualified for the last 16 of the China Open in Beijing as he defeated Graeme Dott 5-1 on Tuesday.

Allen produced breaks of runs of 102, 60 and 86 in a solid display against the former world champion.

Kent-based Northern Ireland man Gerard Greene was beaten 5-3 by local hero Ding Junhui.

Greene took the first frame with a run of 73 but Ding responded with four successive frames and then closed out the match with a break of 107.

Allen will face another Scot Stephen Maguire in the second round on Thursday.

Ireland's Fergal O'Brien was beaten 5-3 by current world champion John Higgins on Tuesday.
