Mark Allen lost out in the first round of the China Open

Antrim's Mark Allen lost 5-3 to Stuart Pettman in the first round of the China Open in Beijing on Wednesday morning.

World number 16 Allen lost the opening two frames but recovered to draw level at the interval before losing three of the next four frames.

Belfast's Joe Swail had lost 5-4 to England's Robert Milkins in a first round qualifying round tie on Tuesday.

Swail clawed his way back from 3-1 and 4-3 down, including a 127 break in the eighth frame, but Milkins won the last.

Milkins produced a well-constructed 78 to snatch the final frame and the match.
