Jimmy White and Steve Davis are two of snooker's most famous players
Snooker greats Jimmy White and Steve Davis have both qualified for next week's Welsh Open championships.
Six-times world champion Davis beat Tom Ford 5-2 in the qualifiers in Prestatyn to earn a showdown with world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan on February 18.
Six-times world runner-up White secured a clash with Ali Carter, last year's beaten Crucible finalist, defeating ex-world champion Ken Doherty 5-0.
Welshmen Ian Preece and Paul Davies also qualified for their home event.
Newport's Preece set up a tough clash with world number two Stephen Maguire in his home-town tournament by beating Stuart Bingham 5-3 in the qualifiers in Prestatyn.
Barry's Davies, meanwhile, beat Barry Hawkins 5-4 to set up a clash with defending champion Mark Selby at the Newport Centre.
But snooker icons White and two-time Welsh Open Davis will be the big attractions in South Wales but both face tough opponents.
"I played Ali Carter once in the UK Championship and lost, but I was in shreds at the time," said former Masters champion White.
"I'm not in shreds now. I can't wait for Newport."
Irishman Michael Judge beat Stuart Pettman 5-2, Barry Pinches defeated Jamie Cope 5-3.
Anthony Hamilton won the all-Nottingham clash with Michael Holt 5-3 while Mike Dunn saw his 4-1 lead against Ian McCulloch evaporate - but he finally prevailed 5-4.
