Maguire believes the investigation will clear Burnett |
Stephen Maguire says he is still to be contacted by World Snooker officials investigating last month's match with Jamie Burnett at the UK Championship. The inquiry was launched following unusual betting patterns around Burnett's 9-3 first-round loss. But Maguire told the BBC that he is confident the investigation will uncover no evidence of corruption. "Jamie's a good friend of mine, but I'm 100% sure there's nothing wrong, so we'll wait and see," he said. "I know there's nothing to worry about so it's not really bothered me too much. If I get a phonecall, I get a phonecall. I'll help them out whatever they want to do. "If I had something to hide then maybe it would bother me but I've got absolutely nothing. "You know how people talk. You hear these things two or three times at every tournament so it's been magnified out of order." It emerged after the match that several bookmakers stopped taking bets on the 9-3 scoreline well before the match started Burnett, who denies any wrongdoing, missed a black in the 12th frame which would have made it 8-4.
