A spokesman told BBC Radio Five Live there was no further evidence and no official complaint had been registered.

A visibly upset Ding suffered a 10-3 defeat by Ronnie O'Sullivan at a rowdy Wembley, saying the crowd put him off.

"If Ding has been abused at all, there must be quite a few witnesses," said O'Sullivan's spokesman Stewart Weir.

"The very nature of snooker means that you're playing in a quiet atmosphere, and any sort of outburst at all tends to circulate around very quickly."

"The London crowd can be quite anti anyone outside London.

"Stephen Hendry in the past has received all sorts of abuse, as has Mark Williams at times."

Ding, 19, admitted afterwards: "It is very different to events like the China Open because the fans go in groups there.
