 Joe Swail lost a final frame decider in the second round |
Northern Ireland players Joe Swail suffered narrow second round defeats in the the Maplin UK Championship at York Barbican Centre on Thursday. Belfast star Swail started the session level at 4-4 with 2004 champion Stephen Maguire but went on to lose out 9-8 to the Scotsman.
Kent based Northern Ireland player Gerard Greene held a 7-5 lead over former world champion Mark Williams.
But the Welsh ace won the next four frames to secure a 9-7 victory.
Swail made an early break of 20 in the deciding frame but lost position to allow Maguire the chance to claim a place in the third round.
