Day's highest break against Jones was 76 |
Ryan Day whitewashed fellow Welshman Jamie Jones to land his third win in a row at the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Aberdeen. Day, who is top of his round-robin group, eased past Jones 3-0 and is yet to drop a frame at the tournament.
Day is almost certain to make the last 16, which involves best-of-nine-frame matches, as is defending champion John Higgins, who beat Dominic Dale 3-2.
Last season's runner-up Ronnie O'Sullivan also claimed his third win.
O'Sullivan cruised to a 3-0 victory over Stoke's Jamie Cope with breaks of 129, 113 and 45.
Mark Selby upset Andy Hicks with a 3-0 win, having earlier seen the left-hander defeat seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry 3-2 in their group.
Ian McCulloch claimed his second win of the day, a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland's Gerard Greene, despite managing a highest break of just 37.
Thai qualifier Issara Kachaiwong defeated Scot Alan McManus 3-1 to secure his third win from four matches.
The 1997 world champion Ken Doherty eased past Judd Trump 3-0 for his third win.
Joe Perry saw off Scot Stephen Maguire 3-1 while Michael Holt scored his third win with a 3-1 victory over two-time world champion Mark Williams.
Welshman Williams was then forced to pull out of the tournament with a wrist injury.
