Harold limped out in Beijing |
England's Andrew Norman and Dave Harold are out of the China Open after home favourites Yu De Lu and Yang Qing Tian cruised through the wildcard play-offs. World number 72 Norman, from Bristol, was never in contention as he went down 5-1 to 19-year-old Lu at the Beijing Students University Gymnasium.
Harold, a former Asian Open winner, followed him out, losing 5-2 to Yang.
Lu now plays Graeme Dott in the last 32, while Yang faces defending champion and home favourite Ding Junhui.
However, the hosts did not fare as well later in the day, with Liu Chuang crashing out to Northern Ireland's two-time World Championship semi-finalist Joe Swail 5-2.
David Roe and Scott MacKenzie of England are also through following their victories over Li Yin Xi and Li Hang respectively by the same scoreline.
And in the final match to finish, England's Adrian Gunnell beat Zheng Peng 5-3.
