Frame-by-frame:

Frame 34:
Stevens misses an easy red into the middle pocket and Murphy holds his nerve to make a title-clinching break of 83.

Frame 33:
Murphy clears through to the final red for a 97 break to stand one frame away from the title.

Frame 32:
Two early fouls by Murphy hand Stevens the initiative, and he goes on to make a 51 break for the frame to draw level.

Frame 31:
Under massive pressure, Stevens produces a brilliant 124 break, the 63rd century break of the tournament so far.

Frame 30:
A 64 break puts Murphy out of Stevens' reach and inches him closer towards the trophy.

Frame 29:
Just as the match seems to be drifting away from him, Stevens makes a 68 break to stay in touch.

Frame 28:
Stevens makes a break of 37 but misses a simple pink to the middle pocket. Murphy rattles off a 68 break to open up a two-frame lead as the match seems to be turning his way.

Frame 27:
Murphy's break of 64 allows Stevens no way back into the game and he regains the lead.

Frame 26:
Stevens makes a break of 95 which comes to an end with two reds left on the table, to draw level again.

Frame 25:
A Stevens foul on the blue allows in Murphy for a 55 break to take the frame and go ahead for the first time since the opening frame of the match.

Frame 24:
Murphy draws first blood with an impressive 107 break to draw level at 12-12.

Before the final session begins, there is a parade of champions at the Crucible.

Those who walk out into the arena include Ray Reardon, Joe Johnson, Cliff Thorburn, John Parrott, John Higgins, Mark Williams, Ken Doherty, John Spencer, Peter Ebdon, Dennis Taylor, Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry.

Frame 23:
Murphy is handed a 20 point start after Stevens fouls. Stevens shines through with a 52 to claim the last frame before the interval.

Frame 22:
Most of the reds get stuck in the right-hand corner, with the black covering the pocket. A tactical battle ensues. Both miss the final blue. But Murphy steals the frame on the black.

Frame 21:
Murphy pulls himself to within a frame of Stevens with a superb clearance of 137. His 10th ton of the Crucible championship.

Frame 20:
Stevens is on a big-looking break but misses a simple red at 60, and Murphy mops up the remaining reds and colours for an 80 break and the frame.

Frame 19:
Stevens slows down Murphy's momentum and stops the rot to claim his first frame of the day, the longest one of the day.

Frame 18:
Murphy's bid for a 147 falls down at 56, but that break is enough to win the frame and cut Stevens' lead to 10-8.

Frame 17:
On a break of 51, Murphy misses a long angled red but Stevens fails to make up any ground and it is enough to earn Murphy the first frame of day two.

Frame 16:
Stevens attempts to ball a red coming down from the top cushion, but misses. A turgid 30 minutes follows but Stevens wins it on the pink. 10-6.

Frame 15:
Stevens plays a woeful safety to allow Murphy in. Murphy stops the rot with an 84 break.

Frame 14:
Stevens is on a roll. He establishes a four-frame advantage after a making a 86 break.

Frame 13:
After a turgid few opening exchanges, Stevens grabs hold of the frame by the scruff of the neck and makes an 80 for 8-5.

Frame 12:
Murphy seems to have found his rhythm as his long-potting form returns and he makes a 66 break to take the frame, going into the break on a positive note.

Frame 11:
Murphy notches the highest break of the game so far, 125, in the quickest frame of the game so far, 13 minutes and one second.

Frame 10:
Another half-hour frame with no significant breaks, won by Stevens.

Frame Nine:
After a 52 break and with two reds left, Murphy pots the white. Stevens clears up the colours to win.

Frame Eight:
Stevens makes three fouls early in an error-strewn frame as the tension seems to get to both players. But he eventually takes the frame on the black for a 5-3 lead after the session.

Frame Seven:
Murphy's luck seems to have changed but his break ends at 56 after hitting a blue too hard. But Stevens gives him a second chance and he clears up to the pink to cut Stevens' lead to one frame.

Frame Six:
Murphy's luck seems to be deserting him as several long pots fail to come off, but fall well for Stevens to follow up. The frame lasts over half an hour, much longer than expected for two fast-potting players.

Frame Five:
Both players have chances early on in a tense frame, before Stevens puts together a 41 break for the frame.

Frame Four:
An error-strewn frame that lasts 34 minutes is won by Murphy.

Frame Three:
Stevens makes a break of 43 but misses a long red. Murphy comes back in but misses an easy red to allow Stevens to go in front in the match.

Frame Two:
Stevens is back on track. Happy with the new cue ball, he compiles breaks of 54 and 30 for 1-1.

Frame One:
Murphy wins the first frame after a long safety exchange. At the end of the frame both players complain of the white ball being too light.
