Hunter still plans to play in Sheffield |
Ronnie O'Sullivan has offered his full support to Paul Hunter after the world number four was diagnosed with cancer of the colon. Hunter had been suffering from stomach pains for several months and recent tests showed six cysts in his stomach.
After beating Mark Williams 5-1 in the Premier League Snooker event on Thursday, O'Sullivan said: "Please God he'll get through it.
"I couldn't speak for two hours when I heard the news."
Hunter, 26, opted out of this week's Ipswich event following his diagnosis.
But he still intends to play at the World Snooker Championship from 16 April, during which he will undergo hospital treatment.
And O'Sullivan added: "It's terrible but everyone in snooker and all his friends will support him."
