Hunter will face Mark Williams in the last eight

Two-time Wembley winner Paul Hunter kept his hopes of a third triumph alive with a 6-3 win over David Gray.

The first frame had to be re-racked and after the re-start the game failed to catch fire, despite breaks of over 50 in four of the first five frames.

The match never had much momentum and despite trailing, Gray hit three of the four highest breaks, 70, 67 and 76.

But Hunter finally let rip in the last frame, as a knock of 74 proved enough to secure his quarter-final place.

Hunter said he was glad to be back at Wembley but admitted both players had struggled to find fluency.

"My heart starts racing and playing at Wembley tends to bring the best out of me," said the double Masters winner.

"David was scoring more heavily than me but if someone else starts missing, you lose concentration and you miss too.

"You have to forget he's missing and concentrate on yourself.

"I feel more relaxed when I've won the first game."
