Mark Williams had few problems as he beat Mark King 6-1 in an uninspiring match in the second round of the Benson & Hedges Masters.

Williams cleared up to win the first after King had missed a simple red into the bottom corner.

After sharing a couple of scrappy frames Williams hit a 127 break to go 3-1 up and, after the break, won another error-strewn frame to go 4-1 up.

Neither player showed any real fluidity and, despite a brief King rally in the final frame, Williams eased to victory.

Despite clocking up the highest break of the tournament so far, Williams said his performance against King left room for improvement.

"I didn't play well, but it's the final result that matters," said Williams afterwards.

"I'll have to play a lot better than that to beat Stephen Hendry."

Williams won his last Wembley clash against Hendry 10-9 in the 1998 final.

And the Welshman added: "I feel quite relaxed but missed a few easy balls.

"It's frustrating as I'm not hitting the form that I know I can."
