 Team New Zealand got their first win in race five |
Britain's Ben Ainslie skippered Team New Zealand to their first victory in the heats for the Louis Vuitton Cup in Valencia on Friday. Ainslie gybed Team New Zealand ahead of Luna Rossa as they jostled down the middle and held on for the tight win in the second race of the day.
Earlier, America's Cup holders Alinghi won their third consecutive heat.
The winner of the Louis Vuitton series will challenge Alinghi for the America's Cup over a nine-race series.
In Friday's opening race, Swiss team Alinghi finished one minute and seven seconds ahead of Mascalzone Latino of Italy.
Saturday will be the 11 challengers' last chance to race against Alinghi before the Louis Vuitton Cup.
