Campbell was runner-up in last year's world championships |
Sculler Alan Campbell beat Olympic champion Olaf Tufte in winning his semi-final at the World Championships in New Zealand on Thursday. Kiwi Mahe Drysdale, looking to win his fifth consecutive world title, is among the big names into Saturday's final. Northern Ireland's Campbell said: "My job is to get a medal." Britain's men's lightweight four won their semi but pairs duo Andy Hodge and Pete Reed lost to Kiwis Eric Murray and Hamish Bond for the 13th race in a row. The British team will have to find over six seconds to reverse the result in Saturday's final but Reed said: "We're pretty quick. We'll have a good final."
