Olympic gold medallist Steve Trapmore has been appointed Cambridge University coach for the 2011 race.
He replaces Chris Nilsson, who returned home to New Zealand after two years for "lifestyle reasons".
Trapmore, 35, stroked the GB eight to victory in Sydney in 2000 and went on to coach at Imperial College in London.
"We are all looking forward to working with him in building on this year's fabulous win," said Cambridge's American president Derek Rasmussen.

Trapmore has been based for much of his career on the Boat Race course, with the Imperial College boat house just yards from the start in Putney.
"I am hugely honoured to have been appointed by CUBC and am excited at the prospect of leading the club in its preparations for the 2011 Race," he said.
The 2011 Xchanging Boat Race will take place at 1700 BST on Saturday 26 March.
