GB men win gold and silver in double sculls

Devon rowers Marcus Bateman and Bill Lucas have retained their places in the GB rowing team to compete at this weekend's World Cup event in Munich.

Bateman has been selected in the double scull alongside Matt Wells, while Lucas moves to the quadruple scull.

Bateman and Wells took gold in the double scull at May's World Cup event in Bled, with Lucas and Sam Townsend finishing behind them in second.

Bateman said: "It's awesome to come out and dominate at this level."

He added: "We've all come from the World Class Start programme, so we've all come from the same place and we had the same dreams."

The Munich leg of the World Cup series will be followed by the third and final event in Lucerne, Switzerland next month.
