GB men's four strike gold again

Olympic champion Steve Williams led the men's four to gold for the second time in their World Cup campaign in Munich.

Alex Partridge, Peter Reed and Andy Hodge made up the quartet, who finished more than five seconds clear of Italy.

The GB women's quadruple scull, with two-time Olympic silver medallist Katherine Grainger, also won gold.

And Zac Purchase took silver in the lightweight single skull while Paul Mattick and Daniel Harte were third in the lightweight men's pair.

The British four led throughout and completed the course in a time of six minutes 20.97 seconds.

But despite their comprehensive win, Partridge said there was room for improvement.

"We've got to be an excellent crew, we can't just be a good crew," said Partridge, who missed out on taking part in last summer's Athens Olympics through illness.

"These races are all about working on our weaknesses."
