The British Olympic Association has praised Team GB after they finished second in the medals table at the European Youth Olympic Festival. Britain scooped nine gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals over the course
of the five-day event in Serbia.
Only Russia, with 32 medals, including 18 golds, finished higher.
"This is particularly encouraging in the context of London 2012 and the future of British sport," said BOA chief executive Simon Clegg.
"The fact that Team GB secured second place overall demonstrates, once again, the array of talent that we have at this level."
