International Olympic Committee chief Jacques Rogge says he expects a very close contest in the vote to decide the host city for the 2012 Games. "There is no big gap between the bidding cities," the IOC president told French newspaper Le Monde.
"Maybe there will be a difference of half a dozen votes.
"This won't probably be like in 2001, when Beijing won (the 2008 Olympics) with 56 votes ahead of Toronto with 22 and Paris with 18."
Paris remain the favourites to win the IOC vote in Singapore on 6 July ahead of London. The other candidates are Madrid, New York and Moscow.
Rogge said the IOC evaluation commission report, which has been sent to 114 members of the IOC, 100 of whom will be eligible to vote, would be crucial.
"Be sure my colleagues read this report. I know it from the discussions I have with them," he said.
