Craig Reedie has confirmed he is to retire as chairman of the British Olympic Association. An election to determine the successor to the Scot, who was first elected in 1992, will be held on 5 October.
Each national governing body has a chance to propose a candidate by 5 September.
Four-time Olympic rowing gold medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent and current BOA vice-chairman David Hemery are both expected to stand.
Reedie, who played a key role in London's 2012 victory, plans to continue as a member of the International Olympic Committee and council member of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
