Madison Browne tries to get the ball away past England's Sara Bayman |
Australia's netball team bounced back from Friday's loss to England to claim a 53-48 win and set up a series decider at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday. After claiming a 41-40 win over the Diamonds in Liverpool on Friday, English confidence was high. They clawed back a 13-7 deficit at the end of the first quarter to trail 24-23 by half-time in Nottingham. But Australia edged ahead 39-34 going into the fourth quarter and ran out 53-48 winners. Pam Cookey netted 23 goals from 24 attempts for the home side but Madison Browne was outstanding at wing-attack for the Diamonds and caused all sorts of problems for the England defence. England committed a string of handling errors and there was a lack of communication between the players as balls failed to go to hand and disappeared out of court. England tried to double-mark Browne but she proved too strong and was named player of the match for her efforts.
