A superb defensive performance from Naomi Siddall inspired the Mavericks to a gritty 40-33 Superleague win over Loughborough Lightning in Hatfield. Siddall used her experience and pace to shut ex-England captain Olivia Murphy out of the game and took numerous interceptions to steal possession.
Jo Harten, 17, impressed with a mature attacking performance, and England's Ama Agbeze scored 15 goals.
The Mavericks move up to third in the table with two matches remaining.
