Depleted Panthers suffer back-to-back defeats

Injury-ravaged Nottingham Panthers endured a miserable end to the regular Elite League season, suffering heavy losses against Belfast and Hull.

The Challenge Cup winners were humbled 6-2 by the Giants at the National Ice Centre on Saturday, with Will Wheldon and Rob Bellamy scoring the home goals.

Bellamy was also on target on Sunday as the Panthers were trounced 6-1 at Hull.

Steve Lee, Jeremy Van Hoof, Jeff Heerema, Matthew Myers and Angel Nikolov all missed the weekend's games.

But the Panthers medical team hope all five players will be back for the play-off quarter-final trip to Glasgow to face Braehead Clan this Friday (25 March).

The return leg is at the NIC is on Saturday.
