Stars want to end Invicta's seven-year reign over Division One South |
Oxford City Stars boss Gary Dent says his side want to beat Invicta Dynamos on Sunday to end their winning run of seven Division One South league titles. The Dynamos, who are 10 points behind leaders Wightlink Raiders, need to win their last six league to stand any chance of being crowned champions. Dent told BBC Oxford: "We want to do Raiders a favour by beating Invicta. "It would be a meaningful win as oppose to a blip on their record and we'd be helping to make league history." Dent added: "The real credit would go to Wightlink Raiders of course but it's good to have a number of different teams winning the league rather than just one." | There's at least four clubs competing for fifth spot and they're very close together now, so it makes for an interesting end to the season with plenty to play for. With five games remaining the Stars lie sixth in the table, one point behind fifth-placed Streatham Raiders. "Streatham are the team to beat as they are the team to overtake but we can only do it by getting the right results with the teams around us," said Dent. "There's at least four clubs competing for fifth spot and they're very close together now, so it makes for an interesting end to the season with plenty to play for."
