Newcastle Vipers celebrate
Vipers lost 15-0 in the Challenge Cup to Panthers a week ago

Newcastle Vipers came from 4-1 down with 15 minutes remaining to beat Nottingham Panthers 6-5 in Whitley Bay.

Two goals for Matthew Myers and one for David Clarke and Rob Bellamy, replied to by Danny Stewart saw Panthers ahead.

Kyle Sibley (2) and Toms Hartmanis pulled Vipers level, David-Alexandre Beauregard edged Panthers in front, before John Schwarz and Stewart won it.

Coach Stewart said: "To score five goals in the final period, it was an unbelievable finish."

A statement on the Panthers website said: "Coach Corey Neilson said afterwards he wanted to apologise to supporters and accepted it was his job to make sure players do as they are asked, but that hadn't happened."
