Wightlink Raiders are top of the South Division with 33 points
Wightlink Raiders coach Jeremy Cornish admits his side are feeling under pressure to maintain their good run in the league.
Raiders, who host Swindon Wildcats II on Saturday, lie top of the English National Ice Hockey South Division, having won their last seven games.
Cornish told BBC Solent: "There's two teams chasing us with three games in hand so it is tough at the top.
"We're under pressure but we're on a good run and want to extend it."
With 33 points the Isle of Wight side are three points clear at the top of the South Division, closely followed by Invicta Dynamos and Chelmsford Chieftains, who have played three games in hand.
Cornish added: "If if we prepare well we shouldn't have a problem, we just need to make sure we win all our games before Christmas."
After the Swindon fixture the Raiders travel to Streatham to play their last league match before the Christmas break, and Cornish admits his side are in need of some time off.
"It would be good to go into Christmas top of the league but the players need a rest," he said.
"The players are from all over the country so they need to get home to their family and friends and recharge their batteries so that they are ready to come back refreshed and ready to work hard in the new year."
