Greg Chambers started Sunday's fightback in Sheffield with the first goal |
Ex-skipper Ashley Tait's late winner completed a miserable weekend for Coventry Blaze with Sunday's 3-2 Elite League defeat at Sheffield Steelers. Blaze, beaten 3-1 by Hull Stingrays at the Skydome on Saturday night, have now lost their last three matches. Sheffield took a 2-0 lead in Sunday's game when Neil Clark grabbed a goal in each of the first two periods. Goals from Greg Chambers and Russ Cowley looked to have taken it into overtime, but Tait bagged the winner. Blaze were without the suspended Brad Cruikshank for both weekend matches following the nine-game ban he picked up for his part in last week's mass brawl against Nottingham Panthers. Aaron Nell served his one-game ban on Saturday, while coach Paul Thompson, who received a two-game ban, sat both matches out.
