Manchester Phoenix continued their excellent start to the season with a weekend double over Bracknell Bees. Phoenix eased to a comfortable 7-1 success at The Hive on Saturday and followed that up with a 7-4 home victory the following day. Greg Wood and Marcus Kristoffersson both hit hat-tricks in Sunday's win, with a Ben Morgan powerplay goal completing the rout. The wins consolidated Phoenix's lead at the top of the English Premier League. Player coach Tony Hand told the club website: "We're showing intelligence, understanding and strength in our play and this weekend showed perfectly how that can be used." However, Sunday's win was was marred by injuries to net minder Stephen Fone and Ben Wood. Hand added: "We'll assess Steve Fone and Ben Wood properly this week and ascertain how serious the injuries are, but I know they will both want to be back on the ice as soon as they physically can."
