Manchester Phoenix have announced the signing of defenceman Pavel Gomeniuk for the forthcoming season.

The 32-year-old Ukrainian is Phoenix's first non-British trained player to be signed ahead of the new season.

Gomeniuk, despite standing only 5ft 9in, has enjoyed spells in England at Solihull, Hull and Newcastle.

Player-coach Tony Hand told the club's website: "He's a clever player and scores his fair share of points, and is happy to play a physical game."
