Canadian defenceman Dwayne Newman has committed himself to the Peterborough Phantoms for another season. The 39-year-old was an ever-present in the 2009/10 Elite League campaign. Phantoms coach Curtis Cruikshank told the club's website: "He is the leader and experienced influence that coaches really need. "Dwayne is one of the most dependable players in the league, a no-frills player whose contribution can sometimes go unnoticed to the untrained eye." Newman's new deal follows the re-signing of forward James Spurr and the arrival of defenceman Steven Duncombe from Sheffield Scimitars.
