Meyers is a Great Britain international |
Nottingham Panthers captain Danny Meyers says they are still in the Elite League title race after a 7-2 home drubbing of leaders Coventry Blaze. Sean McAslan led the way with two goals with Jade Galbraith, Marc Levers, Ross Dalgleish, Kevin Bergin and David Clarke also on target. Meyers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It sends out a message that we are going to battle to the final game." Panthers are five points behind Blaze, who still have one game in hand. But Nottingham, who lie third on 61 points and two points behind Belfast Giants, only have eight games left to bridge the gap. Meyers added: "The pressure is on Coventry and if they do slip up then hopefully we will be there to pick up the pieces. And it works out well that Belfast are also in contention. "Beating Coventry also shows that we are a pretty team going into the play-offs."
