With 39 goals Luke Fulghum is the Elite League's leading scorer
Coventry Blaze celebrated 10 years at the Skydome by moving three points clear at the top of the Elite League. Blaze followed up a 5-1 win at Newcastle on Saturday with Sunday's 6-1 home win over Hull Stingrays. Luke Fulghum hit a hat-trick in front of his own fans to ensure that Blaze capitalised on defeats for title rivals Nottingham Panthers. Coventry have two games in hand on second-placed Panthers and a five-point lead over Belfast Giants in third. With the Blaze supporters in party mood at the Skydome, to mark their move from Solihull a decade ago, Jonathan Weaver and Fulghum put the home side two up in the first five minutes. The American adding his second shortly after and he then completed his treble in the second period. Dan Carlson added another before Adam Knight netted a consolation. But Derek Campbell completed the scoring early on in the third. Head coach Paul Thompson felt that the celebrations had inspired his current roster. "The old players came down and spent five minutes with the team before the game," said Thompson. "We talked about the history and what they'd done to make the club what it is. "It's been a fantastic day. We had to stay focused on the game. "Now the game's over and we've won it we can enjoy the event."
