A costly mistake from the Bracknell Bees gifted Basingstoke a comfortable win at the Hive on Saturday. Bees defenceman Carl Graham handed Bison import Ondrej Lauko the puck on a plate for Basingstoke's game-changing third goal after a tight start. Jaroslav Cesky had drawn Bees level at 2-2 with the last action of the first period, but Lauko's goal opened the way for Basingstoke to dominate. Tony Redmond added a fourth for the Bison before Lauko grabbed his second. Both sides stormed out of the blocks in the first period, but the frenetic pace of the opening exchanges took its toll on a weary Bracknell later in the game. Basingstoke took the lead through a simple close-range finish from Ollie Bronnimann after good set-up play from Joe Ciccarello, but the Bees hit back with a fine strike lashed into the roof of the net by Michal Pinc. The Bison went back ahead through Ciccarello himself before Cesky's equaliser on the stroke of the first intermission, but Graham's error handed Lauko a goal and Basingstoke the momentum needed to go on and win.
