Giants suffer second weekend loss

The Belfast Giants suffered their second Elite League defeat of the weekend as they went down 2-0 away to Newcastle Vipers on Sunday evening.

Matus Petricko in the first period and Ben Campbell in the second were the scorers for the home side.

The Giants had lost 5-4 to Coventry Blaze at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday.

Tim Cook, Pierre Luc-Faubert, Michael Jacobsen and Pat Bateman were the Giants' scorers but Blaze proved too strong on the night.

Goals from Russ Cowley and Dan Carlson put Coventry two in front but Cook replied for the Giants.

Luke Fulghum and Greg Chambers were then on target to put the visitors 4-1 ahead at the end of the first period.

Luc-Faubert pulled one back for Belfast, Adam Calder scored for Blaze and Jacobsen and Bateman scored in the final period for Belfast.
