Nottingham Panthers were edged out on penalties in a thrilling Charity Shield against Sheffield Steelers at the National Ice Centre on Wednesday. A record pre-season crowd of 6,200 were treated to a pulsating game which ended 6-6 after normal time. Sean McAslan scored four times on his return and Corey Neilson and Cameron Mann were the other Panthers scorers. After a scoreless overtime, the sides needed nine penalty shots each, before Mann's effort was saved.
