Legue savours his Steelers winner

Sheffield Steelers forward Jeff Legue
Legue scored the overtime winner in Coventry.

Sheffield Steelers forward Jeff Legue says his overtime winner against Coventry Blaze was the 'most important goal' of his career.

The 27-year-old's score in the 4-3 win at Coventry moved them seven points clear at the top of the Elite League.

"My first reaction was huge relief, I turned around and it seemed that the whole bench jumped all over me," Legue told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"It was a great weekend for the team, I was just the lucky man." he added.

Legue shot the winning goal with 28 seconds left to play at a packed Sky Dome Arena.

Joe Talbot and Scott Basiuk got the Steelers other goals early in the first period.

Legue also scored the overtime winner in a hard fought 4-3 victory over bottom club Hull Stingrays at Ice Sheffield on Saturday.

The Steelers entertain Cardiff Devils on Saturday 10 January and Belfast on Sunday 11 January at the Sheffield Arena.
