Nottingham Panthers have moved to third in the Elite League after a win on penalties over Newcastle on Sunday. Todd Griffith gave the home side the lead in the third period but David Clarke levelled three minutes later. Panthers Johan Molin was the only scorer in the shoot-out as netminder Michel Robinson saved all three shots. Player-coach Corey Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Michel was excellent he made some good first saves and kept us in it." He added: "I thought we played well, we skated, we moved and created a lot of opportunities. "But Newcastle was a much better side tonight."
