JF Perras played well against Bolzano Foxes but could not manage a shut-out |
Coventry Blaze failed in their bid to reach the super final of the Continental Cup following their 1-0 defeat to Bolzano Foxes in Italy. Blaze had a goal disallowed in the match against their Italian hosts, who now qualify for January's final. Coventry won their previous two group matches, beating HDK Maribor 6-3 in their opening fixture on Friday. Paul Thompson's side followed it up with a 6-4 victory over DD Dunaujvaros before losing Sunday's decider. There was mixed news for Blaze back home over the weekend as they were knocked off the top of the Elite League table. Sheffield Steelers leapfrogged Blaze thanks to their victory over Newcastle Vipers. But Nottingham Panthers' defeat to Basingstoke Bison means that Coventry have now qualified for the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.
