Evan Cheverie got the first of the Belfast Giants' five goals |
The Belfast Giants came from behind to secure a convincing 5-2 win over the Edinburgh Capitals in Saturday's Elite League clash at the Odyssey Arena. Doug Christiansen scored after 10 minutes for the visitors but the Giants then took command of the contest. They scored through Evan Cheverie, Paul Sample, Andrew Martin, coach Steve Thornton and Colin Shields before Jordan Steel got Edinburgh's second. It takes the Giants to within two points of leaders Coventry Blaze. On Friday, Belfast beat the Sheffield Steelers on penalties to edge a 3-2 win. Sheffield led twice with Ashley Tait scoring in the opening period and Jonathan Phillips restoring the lead after Paul Deniset had levelled. Andrew Martin's goal early in the final period ensured the penalty shootout.
