Coventry Blaze will be without their coach Paul Thompson and four players for this weekend's double header with Newcastle Vipers.

Assistant Luc Chabot will take charge while Thompson looks after the Great Britain team in an Olympic pre-qualification tournament in Poland.

"The guys have got to dig deep but we've still got a good team," Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

"We'll call up a couple of players from the ENL team."

Russ Cowley, Leigh Jamieson, Ben O'Connor and Jonathan Weaver have travelled with their club coach to Sanok for the round-robin tournament where they will face Japan and Romania as well as host nation Poalnd.

The matches will be broadcast live on bbc.co.uk/coventry.

Blaze entertain Newcastle on Saturday (8 November) in the Elite League before travelling to the north-east the following day.

The matches will be the last for James Pease in a Coventry shirt before he hangs up his skates and takes up an office role with the club.
