Cardiff Devils were beaten 5-4 after penalties by the Coventry Blaze on Saturday night in the Bay.

Blaze captain Adam Calder scored the deciding penalty shot for victory.

Sylvain Deschatelets broke Devils netminder Peter Aubry's shutout streak with a powerplay goal on 1:23 and Russ Cowley made it 2-0.

But Devils took a 4-2 lead through Mike Prpich, Tyson Teplitsky, Wes Jarvis and Jason Silverthorn, before Blaze tied the game to send it into a shoot-out.

Blaze made the most of a five-on-three powerplay in the third period, with Jonathan Weaver and Adam Calder scoring the goals.

The Devils now turn their attention to the Manchester Phoenix, who they face on Sunday at the Altrincham Ice Dome (1730 GMT).
