The Hull Stingrays have re-signed Scottish forward Lee Mitchell for the 2008-2009 Elite League season.

The 21-year-old was selected for the Great Britain squad that are currently taking part in the World Championships in Austria but withdrew through injury.

Rays Coach Rick Strachan told BBC Radio Humberside: We are delighted to have Lee back.

"He is very professional on and off the ice and we hope he will continue to progress and have a big year for us."

Mitchell signed for the Rays from Scottish side Fife Flyers and had scored 12 goals before his season was curtailed by a knee-cartilage injury in January.

Strachan added: We believe his injury cost him a probable place in the GB squad for the World Championships but he will be fully fit for the start of next season and we expect Lee to go from strength to strength.

Mitch has earned everything he gets because he's a terrific player who has a great work ethic and is improving year-on-year. he said.
