Martin leaves Blaze for Denmark

Ice hockey

Blaze defenceman Neal Martin is to leave Coventry to play for Danish side Aalborg next season.

The 32-year-old helped Coventry win seven titles during his four years at the club.

Martin will play his last game at the Skydome in the Elite League play-off quarter-final against Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday.

"At this stage of my career it was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up," he told the club's website.

Martin is one of four Blaze players in the Elite League All Star Team which also includes Trevor Koenig, Jonathan Weaver and Adam Calder.

Coventry coach Paul Thompson has also been named Coach of the Year for the third time in four years.
