American Jake Riddle has been named Hull Stingrays' player of the year after completing an impressive rookie season in the Elite League. The 24-year-old former Utah Grizzlies forward scored 22 goals this season and was also voted forward of the season and the fans' favourite player.
Riddle told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm happy but surprised to get the award and it's a great honour.
"The fans' award means just as much, as it means they appreciate what you do."

Stingrays coach Coach Rick Strachan said: "Jake went through a dry spell before Christmas but he really pulled it around after he scored a hat-trick against Manchester.
"He's big and he's physical and strong on the puck especially when he does what he's best at doing - that's driving the net."
Meanwhile, 21-year-old GB international David Phillips was voted the club's defenseman of the year whilst 18-year-old Lee Esders took the most improved player accolade.
Strachan added: "Dave has all the right tools in his locker and the future is up to him but he must continue to improve every year.
"Lee is a young kid who does what all young kids do. He skates at 110 miles per hour but he took his opportunity well and got better and better."
