Nottingham Panthers forward Kevin Bergin scored a hat-trick as the Newcastle Vipers were crushed 6-2 at the National Ice Centre. The 26-year-old opened the scoring after nine minutes, but had to wait until the final period to complete his hat-trick with a quick-fire brace.
The teams were level at 2-2 going into the third but Vipers had no answer to the onslaught in the closing stages.
The win leaves fourth-placed Panthers nine points ahead of the Vipers.
