Roary the Tiger with fellow walkers in Shropshire |
Club mascot Roary raise awareness of Telford Tigers peak at the weekend with a community walk up a local landmark. A colourful group of fans handed out leaflets on a sponsored walk to the top of local hill, the Wrekin.
"We want to raise funds and also attract people to our games, to show what an exciting sport ice hockey is," said club official Caroline Garbett.
The off-the-ice fun came as a welcome distraction as the Tigers lost both their matches at the weekend.
Their promotion hopes were hit by a 7-4 defeat by Slough, and a 6-1 collapse to Sheffield.
On his team's form, manager Dave Candlin told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's been a rough time for us recently.
"Two weeks ago we were in the play-off spots, but a run of injuries since Christmas hasn't helped.
"But we're still hopeful of making those play-offs, and that's our aim."
Tigers host Romford on Saturday, 23 February at the Telford Ice Rink (1730 GMT face-off).
