The New York Rangers beat Atlanta 4-2 on Wednesday to secure a 4-0 sweep in the NHL play-offs first round. The third-seeded Thrashers' first-ever NHL post-season appearance proved to be short-lived as the Rangers became the first team into the next round.
Matt Cullen fired a shot in off the crossbar at 2:06 in the third period for the sixth seeds to break a 2-2 tie.
Officials reviewed the play for several minutes before deciding the puck had crossed the goal line.
